Step One ...

Although this print does have a keyblock, in this case I am starting the printing work with one of the colour blocks. There are a couple of reasons for this; as you will see later, the key does not extend throughout the entire design, and thus its function of giving confirmation to the printer that his registration is on target has no meaning here.

Another reason though, is that there were some modifications made to the design at the last minute, necessitating some recarving, and the key is no longer completely reliable as a registration guide. This block, which contains 'lines' which delineate all the important elements of the design, will be the 'key' this time ...
